Best Western Primrose Downtown
The Best Western Primrose Downtown is two blocks to the shops at Eaton Centre and only steps to Allan Gardens and Maple Leaf Gardens. The Elgin & Winter Garden Theatres, just two blocks from the hotel, are the last Edwardian "stacked" theaters in the world. Designed by renowned architect Thomas W. Lamb, the building comprises two separate theaters - one atop the other. The Elgin is the lower theater, and the Winter Garden sits directly above it. The building was beautifully restored and then reopened in 1989. The Elgin now hosts the popular and highly influential Toronto International Film Festival.
The Fairmont Royal York
What to expect:
This landmark hotel, built by Canadian Pacific Railway in 1929 for passengers from nearby Union Station, has welcomed dignitaries and royaltyincluding Queen Elizabeth II. Guests enter to a lobby with hand-painted ceilings and travertine pillars. The hotel is located above PATH, a vast underground shopping and transportation complex with access to Union Station. CN Tower is three blocks away.

If you're looking for a place to meet up with friends or family prior to shopping and sightseeing, the hotel's lobby clock is a popular spot. During World War II, Canadian soldiers promised to meet each other under the clock in the lobby once the war was over. The clock has been a popular rendezvous spot ever since.
